5 Mel Gibson Directed Movies to Watch Now – Including ‘Hacksaw Ridge’

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Mel Gibson has at least one redeemable quality–he directs great movies. His latest film Hacksaw Ridge has been a success with the critics despite having a mediocre opening weekend at the box office. Right now, it’s got an 86% critic approval rating on RottenTomatoes.com and a 96% fan approval rating.

Actor/Director Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge tells the true story of Desmond Doss, a pacifist who enlisted in World War II as a medic. As a conscientious objector to killing, he refuses to carry a weapon as he delves into the horrific Battle of Okinawa at Hacksaw Ridge.

Andrew Garfield stars as Desmond Doss alongside Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington and Teresa Palmer. Of course, Mel Gibson directs, and though it’s easy to brush him off for some of his personal controversies, Hacksaw Ridge‘s debut got us thinking about all of his past hits.
