‘Die Hard’ Director John McTiernan Bashes ‘Captain America’ for Being Hyper-Masculine

There’s no denying the popularity of films like Captain America: Civil War, but is it’s widespread notoriety a good thing? According to director John McTiernan, definitely not.

John McTiernan wasn’t shy about expressing his opinions.

McTiernan, who is most known for his work on films like Die Hard and Predator, is making a new film for the first time since he was released from prison. With that film comes McTiernan’s discussions on the current state of the film industry.

McTiernan follows the stance that the non-stop superhero movies churning out of studios are nothing but detrimental to society.

Captain America, I’m not joking… The cult of American hyper-masculinity is one of the worst things to have happened to the world during the last 50 years,” the director said. “Hundreds of thousands of people have died because of this idiotic delusion. So how is it possible to watch a film called Captain America?”
