Key to the City
Key to the City: Andy’s 7 Best Things to do in NYC
Whether you call it home, like Andy from Key to the City, or you’ve never set foot in the Big Apple, there’s always something to discover in New York. Here’s Andy’s list of the BEST things to do in NYC!
7. Hudson Yards
All other malls should be jealous. At over 1 million square feet, no other mall in the country can match the glitz of Hudson Yards’ shopping experience.
6. Times Square
By law, the buildings in Times Square must have a MINIMUM amount of display lighting.
5. Empire State Building
At nearly 1,500 feet to the very top, it’s one of the city’s tallest buildings.
4. The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Experience over 5,000 years of art at one of the world’s leading art museums.
3. The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum
The Museum cost over $700 million to build and honors the victims of both the September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 terrorist attacks.
2. Central Park
Central Park is the most filmed park in the world and has been featured in over 300+ films.
1. Statue of Liberty
There are 154 steps from the pedestal to the head of the Statue of Liberty.
Key to the City
Get to Know the Story: Key to the City
Here at Rogue Matter we’re constantly churning out content, but also recognize that it’s important to take the time to properly introduce each and every new release to you! ????
Today, we’d like to present the story Key to the City and invite you to read it. And though we’ve started the story, you have the opportunity to help us add to it! Just head on over to our Quest Board to begin exploring!
Every city has a vibe, a personality, a heartbeat. So does New York and his name is Andy. Like the rest of us, Andy wakes up each morning, but when he does, Andy rarely looks like the person who dozed off the previous night.
Just as Andy wakes up with a different face, he wakes up with a different challenge. Wherever he lands, one thing is clear: someone needs his help.
Andy must follow a series of clues set out for him, figure out his mission and find a resolution–one person at a time.
Andy believes the city is speaking to him, directing him to assist someone in need; whoever NYC needs him to be, he is. Where and when NYC needs him, he’s there.
Key to the City
Key to the City x Bond
—Agent: The following is for your eyes only—
Talk about a character who won’t live and let die! Just like our Andy from Key to the City (which you should check out now by the way!), James Bond has had many different faces over the years (though Andy’s face literally changes every morning he wakes up ????), which got me wondering about the best James Bond flick of all time. So read on and find out which movie gets a license to kill! Ok, I’m done with the puns now.
Moonraker (1979)
Inspired by the success of Star Wars, Moonraker is an awesome, spacey James Bond movie.
Golden Eye (1995)
We love Sean Bean in pretty much everything, and he’s perfect as villain Alec Trevelyan/Janus, a rogue former MI6 agent. There’s also Famke Janssen, who has super-powered killer thighs.
Thunderball (1965)
This movie has one of the most iconic James Bond moments ever–when a gorgeous woman in a bathtub asks Bond for something to wear, he simply hands her a pair of shoes.
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
As much as we love the actors who play James Bond, the villains are just as interesting. It doesn’t get much better than Christopher Lee playing a deranged assassin.
Casino Royale (2006)
Casino Royale did a remarkable job at painting James Bond as a real human, a trend which would follow in Daniel Craig’s later Bond movies. Eva Green’s portrayal of Vesper Lynd was a welcome twist on the standard Bond girl.
Dr. No (1962)
The very first of the James Bond films featured Sean Connery facing off against Doctor No, a crazed nuclear scientist. It set the standard for every Bond movie that followed.
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Though Roger Moore may not be people’s favorite James Bond, the worldwide scenery and crazy sets–like the ocean hideout–gave The Spy Who Loved Me a grand scale.
Skyfall (2012)
From Adele’s beautiful theme to the gorgeous cinematography, it’s impossible for Skyfall not to make an impression. This was Daniel Craig’s best appearance as James Bond, and Javier Bardem provides a terrifying counterbalance.
From Russia with Love (1963)
Sean Connery is one of our favorite James Bonds ever, and for good reason. In his second stint as the spy, Connery shines alongside former Miss Rome Daniela Bianchi. This is one of the most spy-feeling movies of any of the Bond films.
Goldfinger (1964)
Hailed as the “ultimate Bond” movie by many sources, Goldfinger featured Sean Connery in his third run as James Bond. Plus, who can forget one of the most memorable exchanges in film history? “Do you expect me to talk?” “No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!”

KEY TO THE CITY
LOGLINE: Every morning, ANDY wakes up in the body of a different person in NYC. He doesn’t know who he really is or where he comes from. He only knows that the city is guiding him to help others. Maybe when he helps enough people, he will finally find a way back to himself.
THE STORY: Each morning for the past four years, Andy has woken up in the body of a different person in the five boroughs of New York City. Some days he is Black, other days White, Asian or Hispanic. Sometimes he is young, other times a senior citizen. Some mornings he is a man, others a woman. Some days he’s in the best of health, other days he is wheelchair bound or dying of cancer. Every morning is a surprise, a new name, new relatives, and new surroundings. And Andy has no knowledge of the person whose body he inhabits that day. He has to learn everything on the fly, which is complicated when on some days he wakes up with a wife or a husband or children. Some days he wakes up in a warm bed. On a few occasions he has woken up in an alley or an abandoned building. He has been a rich banker from the Upper West Side and a poor immigrant in Koreatown. He has been husbands and wives, mothers and fathers sons and daughters. He was even a NY Yankee once!
Whatever body he wakes up in, Andy knows he has a mystery to solve. Somehow, some benevolent force is guiding him. Andy isn’t sure who or what has orchestrated this life for him. He considers himself part of New York’s natural defense system. But Andy isn’t saving the city from bombs or natural disasters. He’s protecting it one person at a time, by getting involved in someone’s life, helping him or her stay strong, be brave, or make a change. He guided a woman not to commit suicide following the death of her wife. He helped an Asian teenager avoid running away from home. He helped a battered wife and her kids leave her abusive husband. And he helped a reporter find the courage to publish his piece on a corporate corruption. So many lives. So many stories. And in saving just one person a day, affecting one life, Andy is helping the city entire. And at the end of that day, when Andy goes to sleep… BAM… he wakes up in another body, in another borough with a new mission to complete.
On most days, Andy feels blessed to play such a role, but it can be difficult. His is a lonely existence, never spending more than 24 hours with people and then suddenly he’s off to the next life. The only constant in his life is his daily cup of Joe at GOTHAM GROUNDS, his favorite NY coffee shop. Andy usually calls in sick for the person he is controlling. It wouldn’t do for him to go to a hospital just because he is in the body of a surgeon since he would have no idea how to practice medicine. All he knows is what he knows. And his knowledge only stretches back four years. Before this life of hopping from one person to the next, Andy has no memory of his own existence, of who he was or where he came from. His only clue to his own identity is a single MEMORY of a white MAN and an Asian WOMAN sitting on a bench in Central Park. He has no idea who they are or what they mean to him. Are they husband and wife? Brother and sister? Was he the man? Was he the woman? Are they his children? His friends? Whatever task the city sets for him on any given day, he is always on the lookout for the people from his memory. If he can find them, maybe he can discover who he is and why this has happened to him.
They say that New York City has a million stories. Andy is going to live each one, providing hope and strength to those who need it. He is the Key to the City.
