The character of Black Panther, a.k.a. T’Challa, doesn’t have the advantage of being one of the Avengers. However, he did make a debut already in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Right from the start, fans fell in love with actor Chadwick Boseman’s character. His quiet confidence, his sense of justice–and his completely badass fighting skills–made him an instant hit.
His appearance in Civil War was preparation for the Black Panther standalone movie. Now that the trailer is out, it looks like the hype surrounding the new character was warranted. The trailer shows Black Panther’s homeland of Wakanda. Until recently, everyone believed Wakanda to be a third-world country. However, they’ve actually become extremely technically advanced.
So far, people are praising the movie’s use of traditional African imagery alongside high-tech advances. Also, the line about it being hard for a good man to be king? Chilling!
