Perhaps Michael Keaton’s role in ‘Birdman’ helped influence this casting decision?

Michael Keaton had been attached to Spider-Man: Homecoming for a while now, but it was only speculation that he’d be playing the villainous Vulture. In the comics, the Vulture is an electronics engineer who makes a flying apparatus that conveniently also gives him super-strength. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed the rumors about Michael Keaton’s role in a very nonchalant fashion. “We’ve had a wish list, and most of them in the near-term are coming together,” he said. “Cate Blanchett is playing Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Spider-Man is something. And of course, finally, we’re showcasing Josh Brolin’s Thanos. We’re looking forward to that very much.”
