SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris had nothing but flattering things to say about Morgan Freeman.
“Some actors spend their entire careers waiting for the perfect role. Morgan showed us that true perfection is what a performer brings to the part,” Carteris said. “He is innovative, fearless and completely unbound by expectations. As a chauffeur, convicted murderer, boxing bym attendant, pimp or president, Morgan fully realized every character, baring their souls and showcasing their humanity. It has been a privilege to see his genius at work.”
The Highlight Reel
Of course, she’s referencing some of our favorite Morgan Freeman movies when talking about those roles. Here are the highlights:
- Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
- The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
- Deep Impact (1998)
- Bruce Almighty (2003)
- Million Dollar Baby (2004)
- The Dark Knight (2008)
- Now You See Me (2013)
Needless to say, Morgan Freeman is highly deserving of a Lifetime Achievement Award. His career has spanned decades, kicking off in the early 1970s. Now, at 80 years old, he has over 100 acting credits on his IMDb page.
The SAG Awards will take place on January 21, 2018. Freeman will be joining the ranks of other honorees like Lily Tomlin, Debbie Reynolds, James Earl Jones, Julie Andrews and Clint Eastwood.
