With a new Power Rangers movie scheduled for release next year, it was time for an update. Long gone are the lycra outfits of ages past. Now the new Rangers will fight evil with a more crystalline, armor-like get-ups.
Director Dean Israelite said the outfits are perfect for everything the show symbolizes. “The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis. These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.”
The look is also designed to set the new Power Rangers apart from other superhero movie characters. “It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume,” said production designer Andrew Menzies. “Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made.”Read more for a Power Rangers Cinco de Mayo surprise:
