Given its success, it’s only natural that Marvel would want to keep the train going by hiring the ame screenwriters. The Hollywood Reporter states that McKenna and Sommers are entering their final negotiations to sign on for the sequel.
Of course, their awesome writing is helped along by the well-cast stars of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland provides a wittier, more youthful look at Spidey than we’ve seen with Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire. Adding in Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark is also a huge plus.
The supporting cast of the first film is rounded out with heavy hitters Michael Keaton and Marisa Tomei as well as comedic relief in the form of Jon Favreau and Jacob Batalon.
Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will land in theaters on July 5, 2019.
