Jupiter Ascending, the sci-fi drama directed by directed by the legendary The Wachowskis, hasn’t been ranking in the most favorable reviews but don’t let that stop you.
The biggest complaint is that the story could have been better but we’re hoping that the spectacular special effects (The Wachowskis did The Matrix trilogy after all) and Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis will overcome some of the early challenges in the press.
On Rotten Tomatoes the critics have been merciless giving this only a 22% rating but the audience rating was much more positive at 49% with an average rating of 3.2/5.
The film is centered on Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), a down-on-her-luck janitor, and Caine Wise (Channing Tatum), an interplanetary warrior who informs Jones that her destiny extends beyond Earth. Supporting cast member Douglas Booth has described the film’s universe as a cross between The Matrix and Star Wars while Kunis named its underlying themes as indulgence and consumption.
The filmed opened on Friday 2/6/15 and ,if anything, looks like two hours of pure eye candy!
